Nokia tops in Green Gadget ranking while apple slips

Nokia maintains the top spot in manufacturing greener eco-friendly products approved by Green Peace which ranks top 18 manufacturing companies according to their policies on toxic chemicals, recycling and climate change.

Apple one of the most loved gadget manufacturers suffered in the ranking because of not being clear of its chemical usage in the near future. According to Green peace all the apple products are now manufactured without polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and Brominates flame retardants (BFRs) which are very harmful chemicals but however apple does not make it clear on the issue related to its future policies about the use of chemicals which sees it slipping down in the ranking.

I guess you would have seen Philips ad clearly stating its eco-friendly and greener products, it has now been certified by green peace as well. It claimed the 3rd spot by introducing Led TV’s without PVC and BRF.

HP has gained four spots to 4th from the previous of 8th. HP recently introduced world’s first PVC free printer and cleared that by 2011 it will manufacture its entire product range without PVC and BRF.

Other top manufacturing units were Sony, Panasonic, Motorola, Samsung and Sony Ericson.
